Urgent request from Chesapeake Tea Party

Dear York County Tea Party leader,

This is an urgent request and very timely.
We are having a planning session on what we can do
to represent our various tea parties at the Hampton Roads Transportation Authority meetings.
This Authority was created by the General Assembly even though it was
ruled unconstitutional by the Virginia Supreme Court a few
years ago.  They are like kids in a candy store with the
budget they've been handed - $183M dollars from tolls,
T.I.F.s, State and Federal grants (our taxes) and more.
Norfolk and VBeach mayors are trying to force themselves
on the rest of the Authority voting members to be the
Chair and Vice Chair which we will do whatever we can
to stop.  We need to know what you know about your
Mayor, which will be a voting member on this authority.
We want to know if he is a good guy or a bad guy, if
you know what I mean,.  We are meeting tomorrow morning at 10am,
so I'm hoping you get this email so you can
respond sometime tonight.  Thanks,
Brenda Hardison, Tidewater Tea Party Alliance Secy
and Chesapeake Tea Party member.

MAJ (Ret.) Will Lyles, USA

Will grew up in Hampton,VA where he played baseball at Bethel High School and earned a scholarship to Virginia Military Institute, where he continued to play baseball. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minors in Philosophy and Leadership Studies. After working for Flight International, Lyles applied to Army Officer Candidate School (OCS). He graduated from OCS in December 2003 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry.

Lyle served as a platoon leader during his first deployment to Iraq, and a Company Executive Officer and Battalion Assistant Operations Officer during his second deployment the following year. On his third and final deployment, Lyles went to

Afghanistan as an Operational Detachment Alpha Team Leader with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group. On August 28, 2010, he stepped on a pressure plate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during a fire fight with insurgents in Garm Ab village of the Oruzgan Province. The IED blast took both of Will's legs, and left him with burns, shrapnel wounds, and several other injuries.

When Will arrived at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio on September 4, 2010, he was on a ventilator and spent six weeks in Intensive Care. After battling infection, sepsis, and losing six more inches of his upper leg, Lyles was finally able to go home on November 16, 2010. Since then, he has been in and out of BAMC, undergoing further skin graft surgeries and rehab at The Center for the Intrepid. Lyles has been awarded three Bronze Stars, one Purple Heart, and numerous other medals.

Will and his fiancée Sophia are looking forward to beginning the next chapter of their life together in The Woodlands, TX. Helping a Hero assembled an amazing team to build a wheelchair-accessible 4 bedroom, 3 bath home tailored to meet Will's specific needs. A very special thank you to Woodforest National Bank for underwriting this home, allowing this project to happen. Thank you to The Woodlands Development Company for donating the beautiful lot, and Chesmar Homes for constructing the home with special features such as as wide doors, a roll-in shower, and a roll-under sink that allow Will to remain very independent.

Thank you, Sponsors!

Thank you to our sponsors for making this home a reality.

Our Mission

Helping A Hero is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization that enables all Americans to say "Thank you for your service" to our wounded heroes in a tangible way. We build specially adapted homes for severely injured military personnel and their families and adapt these homes for the specific injuries and challenges of our wounded heroes.

Severely wounded and disabled War on Terror veterans have special challenges everyday. They must adjust to their new circumstances and they need our help to jump-start the process. Emotionally our wounded heroes need to know that every American appreciates the sacrifices our wounded heroes have made. Financially our wounded heroes deserve every American's support to help them get on the road to recovery and regain their independence. Together we can get these patriotic Americans who have given so much for us on the road to success within our communities.

It is truly an honor to build these homes for our heroes. We have not forgotten the sacrifice they made to protect our great nation.

#Selfie- The Story of My Life

We have all either seen or personally taken a selfie. It is very interesting to see the variety and creativity of famous selfies. But as Christ-followers we must place the camera off of ourselves and place it on someone greater than ourselves. Whether we realize it or not, God is writing an incredible story in each one of our lives. The question is, "What's your grace story?"

This month we will be hearing the Grace Stories of our teaching pastors and being encouraged to see how all of us can take a spiritual #selfie of the work God is doing in us and share it with the world. We hope to see you, and bring your cell phone. It's going to be a blast!
