Aerial Spray

Langley AFB will be conducting an Aerial Spray Flight for mosquitoes next week starting Monday, 3 Oct. The plane will spray the last two hours of daylight on 3-5 Oct and depart on Thur, 6 Oct. The spray area plan is as follows.

- Mon, 3 Oct- Langley, Poquoson & York County (Hampton if added)

- Tue, 4 Oct – Newport News, Ft Eustis & Naval Weapons Station

- Wed, 5 Oct-Portsmouth, Craney Island & (York County if not finished Mon)

Dear Robert Bruce,

On Monday, September 26, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., I will be hosting a town hall meeting in downtown Norfolk on the budget deficit and job creation. Joining me to discuss these issues will be Michael Cassidy, CEO and President of The Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis, a nonprofit think tank based in Richmond that focuses on providing independent research and analysis on budget and tax issues.

As you may know, the Budget Control Act of 2011, enacted last month, cut the federal budget deficit by $1 trillion through spending caps but mandated an additional $1.5 trillion in deficit reduction through a new Joint Select Committee. We do not yet know what programs will be cut or if new revenue will be raised. The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction's recommendations will have to be voted on by both the House and the Senate by December 23, 2011. Additionally, the President has recently submitted his recommendations on how to further reduce the deficit and his proposal to get Americans back to work. The town hall meeting will give me an opportunity to discuss the budget deficit and job creation proposals with you and to hear your concerns.

The town hall will be held in Norfolk's City Council Chambers in City Hall located at 810 Union Street in downtown Norfolk. For more information about this event, please contact my Newport News District Office at (757) 380-1000.

Keep the Momentum Going--Sign Tea Party Petition

Dear Patriot,

We've seen a number of Tea Party achievements this week. On Monday, CNN held the first-ever Tea Party Presidential Debate on national television, which we were proud to sponsor. At the event, we saw each candidate argue for the values of Constitutional Conservatism, which was a huge victory for the Tea Party movement!

Then, on Tuesday, we scored huge electoral victories in two key Congressional special elections. In Nevada, Republican Mark Amodei beat Harry Reid's ally Kate Marshall by a resounding margin. Not only does this deny liberals a foothold in retaking the House of Representatives, it sends a message in Nevada's key Senate race next year: we will not send any more liberals to Washington!

Perhaps the most striking victory, however, came from New York City. The seat that previously belonged to the disgraced Anthony Weiner was won by a Republican for the first time since the 1920s! The district, which includes parts of Brooklyn and Queens, is about as safe a Democrat seat as you can get--and yet we elected a Conservative!

It's important for us to build on this momentum and make sure that the message sent in Nevada and New York resonates in Washington: the era of big government is dead! As we send these two patriots to Washington, we must make sure that the rest of Congress knows that "We the People" will continue to demand that they represent our values!

Together, we have sent over 1.3 million letters to our elected representatives, demanding action on some of the most important issues facing our country! One issue that we must continue to call attention to is Barack Obama's atrocious healthcare scheme. We've sent about 50,000 letters to our elected officials urging them to repeal ObamaCare, and we simply must do better! Please, take just a moment to use our state-of-the-art petition system to contact your elected representatives and tell them that ObamaCare must be repealed! *A contribution is not required to sign the petition, but your donations help us continue to provide this service free of charge to patriots all across the country.

We need to translate this week's achievements into policy victories. Please help us make our Repeal ObamaCare petition the most successful effort yet!

We're Almost There - Help Us Reach Historic Goal

Dear Patriot,

After sharing with you the rough cut of our first national television ad, we've received an incredible amount of support and suggestions from our membership. This is an historic ad campaign, and we're working hard to get it right! All of your suggestions are giving us the tools we need to develop the perfect ad to highlight the face of the Tea Party! Thank you to everyone has viewed the ad and given us your suggestions!

As we fine-tune the production of the television ad, it's important to keep in mind what our goals are. We've seen an increase in the frequency and intensity of the attacks against the Tea Party from the left. There is a segment of the American public that gets its impression of the Tea Party solely from the mainstream media, and it's become increasingly important for us to provide a strong counter-voice to the incessant lies being spread by big-government politicians and their allies in the media!

Whether it's Joe Biden calling us "terrorists," Maxine Waters telling us we can go "straight to hell," or Jimmy Hoffa, Jr. calling us SOBs, it's obvious that no one in the mainstream media is going to stand up to defend us. This is why we're launching an aggressive media campaign across television, radio, and the internet. We will introduce America to the real face of the Tea Party: the single mothers, military veterans, blue-collar workers, and everyday patriots!

Since starting production of our ad, the cost of purchasing airtime has gone up dramatically. We know that times are tough and not everyone can afford a large donation. But every donation, however small, is pooled together with the donations of thousands of other patriots from across the country to have a huge effect. In order to reach our goal of $150,000 by the end of the day, we still need 500 patriots to make a donation of $100 or more, and 100 heroes to make a donation of $500 or more. Our ability to counteract the lies and hate from the left depends on your support. Please, help the Tea Party movement by making a generous contribution.
