Our national organization, Americans for Fair Taxation®, has been undergoing a significant transformation over the past year. Many more grassroots leaders are involved in national decision making. We now have nine standing committees working on a variety of efforts, from Strategic Planning, to Congressional Liaison, to Events Management, to Communications/Marketing; and more... All are volunteers and they are working harder than ever before! It is an exciting time to be involved in the FairTax movement. A major change in strategy is to convert Americans For Fair Taxation® into a membership organization. We also expect to move our offices from Houston, Texas to Washington, D.C. in the near future. Both of these strategies recognize the need to increase our influence on D.C. based politicians -- your congressman and mine. It will have more of an impact when we tell members of Congress that our organization has 1,000,000 dues-paying members and they all vote! That is why other organizations such as AARP and the NRA are able to command the attention they receive in Washington. We need to develop that same level of recognition and having committed members such as yourself is essential to that success. Virginia has initially qualified for 2 delegates on the Board of Directors based on current donations to AFFT®. We are not that far from the maximum of 3 delegates. New memberships and donations will put us over the top. Your efforts and commitment to increase our membership will support not only AFFT® in general, but our efforts here in VA. Under the new structure, 50% of your donation is shared with our Virginia FairTax® organization. This will allow us to participate in more events, obtain supplies for our volunteers and put the FairTax® on the radar here in Virginia.
