Scott Pruitt

DianeA,

America will have to face the effects of climate change over the coming decades. Here in Virginia, sea level rise is already impacting coastal communities like Hampton Roads through flooded roads and skyrocketing flood insurance costs. And scientists agree that this is just the beginning.

So it’s essential that the country’s next Environmental Protection Agency Administrator be someone who has a clear grasp on issues like climate change.

Unfortunately Scott Pruitt, Donald Trump’s pick for EPA Administrator, will not take science, or these climate related threats, seriously. I am going to vote no on Mr. Pruitt’s nomination. Will you add your name to let me know you stand with me against Scott Pruitt for EPA Administrator?

It’s very troubling that Mr. Pruitt has not even accepted the scientific consensus that human-generated CO2 emissions are a significant cause of climate change. Not only that, but over the course of his career, he has put the desires of the oil and gas industry above the health of our environment.

He even joined the unsuccessful lawsuit to overturn the EPA's Chesapeake Bay pollution goals. In virtually every decision, he has sided with polluters over the interests of clean air and water.

I’m not sure there’s ever been a nominee who is so opposed to the very mission of the agency he’s been tasked to run.

America, and Virginia, simply can’t afford an anti-science EPA Administrator. The stakes are too high. So I will be voting no on Scott Pruitt. Will you add your name to let me know you agree with my position?

Thank you,

Tim
