FW: 5 Days Left to be Heard on Ft. Monroe

Ft. Monroe National Park

July 21, 2011

Dear Friend,

Would you like to see historic Fort Monroe become a National Park?

If the recent public meetings are an indicator, than you certainly do.

Fort Monroe is unlike any other military facility in our nation's history.  It is filled with stories of trial and triumph from the earliest exploration of the North American continent to today.  It contains beautiful landscapes, magnificent beaches and grand examples of fine architecture.

It deserves to be protected, cherished and preserved!

Over the course of the last several weeks my fellow Members of Council and I have had the opportunity to meet with Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Director of the National Park Service Jonathan Jarvis, as well as attend two public hearings held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

At each of these events hundreds of your fellow citizens expressed their support for a national park at Fort Monroe.

But there is just five days left to insure your voice is heard!

The National Park Service will receive comments online and by mail until July 26, 2011.

I encourage you to join me by visiting: www.parkplanning.nps.gov/fortmonroe or by mailing your letter of support to:

National Park Service

The more support we can generate the greater the likelihood this historic treasurer will become a National Park for current and future generations to cherish.

Yours in Service,

Chris Stuart Signature
