This Week's Recipe
Perhaps you've tried quinoa and other outlandish rice-like substitutes, but what about experimenting with wheat berries? These tiny gems might look like brown rice, but when ground, they become flour! Continue your Christmas color schemes with this Wheat Berry Salad. Boiling the wheat berries for almost an hour may sound hefty, but it's easy when you have gifts to wrap and decorations to hang. After the wheat berries are done and at room temperature, mix in the homemade pomegranate dressing. Adorn a plate with arugula and cherries, toss the dressed wheat berries and serve chilled or at room temperature.
| This Week's Drink
Here's a tasty twist on this season's favorite beverage: Beer Nog. Appalled at store-bought eggnog, Randy Clemens, the mind behind The Craft of Stone Brewing Co., manifested eggnog using dark, strong ale in place of hard liquor. The recipe flaunts all the spicy-nutmeg-vanilla notes you're used to but with the punch of a dark beer. No longer will you have to choose sides this holiday; beer nog combines the best of both worlds.
