VPAP's Latest Data Visualizations

Lobbyist Entertainment: A Primer

In Virginia, lobbyists can provide free meals and entertainment to legislative and executive officials. This visual explains why, in practice, most lobbyist disclosures do not name the official(s) entertained.

Presidential Donations by Region

The suburbs outside Washington, D.C., are fertile ground for presidential fundraising. VPAP breaks down the money by region -- and lets you drill down to a list of donors by ZIP code.

Lack of 'Specificity' in Lobbying Disclosures

Each year, lobbyists are asked to list their activities "with as much specificity as possible." Some take those instructions to mean they should include a list of bill numbers related to legislation they sought to influence. As VPAP's latest data visualization shows, they are the exception, not the rule.
VPAP on the Radio
This week's topics:
1. Nelson County to Furlough Employees for Virtual School Year
2. Residential Parking Proposals Debated in Hampton Roads

Each week, VPAP and RadioIQ team up to bring you a pair of human interest stories culled from the headlines of VaNews. The segments are produced by WVTF in Roanoke and carried on public radio stations across the Commonwealth.
Weekly Lobbyist Registrations
VPAP has posted 25 lobbyist registrations filed with the Virginia Ethics Council since last week.
