RE: [HRPatriots] local groups

All,

Wayne is shrewd to discern that it is partially strategic for the powers that be to "overwhelm the system in order to collapse it." Sound familiar? It should to most of you. It's straight out of Saul Alinski's "Rules for Radicals."

It is the very same tactic to so burden small businesses and pre-occupying them with increased taxes and fees that they won't have the time to fight, nor won't have the money, either.

I did say the strategy was only "partially" strategic to this issue. The remaining motivation for increased taxation is the usual greed for the usual desire to spend more of your money. That, too, further increases their power of us all.

Good job, Wayne.

Mike

I hear you Shirley,

Your e-mail falls upon my own sense of responsibility and even guilt.  I'm sure there are a million stories in the big city but my excuses have to do with little time and no money.

I'm so busy dodging bullets that I can't join the fight.  Our businesses are hurting because of the taxation and impossibility of competing with Newport News.  I.e. "entertainment tax" just went form 7.5% (already too high) to 10%.  That puts a serious burden on our already economy diminished business so they can use the money to build 4 new K-3-5 schools (essentially free daycare) that is killing my biggest tenant, a daycare that occupies 3 spaces.

Everywhere I turn I'm staring at the bank or the government coming for money I don't have.  I have to do all the landscaping (where I should be right now) because I can't afford it.

I know that part of the plan (conscious or not) is to keep us so damn overwhelmed that we can't fight.  Unfortunately it is working all too well.  Still Sandy has been able to get out and canvas a little.  Let me know if you need a place to meet, I believe we can use LazerRush for up to about 30 folks on a Monday night when we're closed.

Thanks for your motivational reminder.  I don't know where you always seem to have all that positive energy.  "They will run and not grow tired," comes to mind, perhaps we run healthier when our cause is just.

Let's make the effort to rekindle our love for all humanity because if we let it die here, it will die everywhere.

Keep the faith,

Wayne

P.S. My Sunday is full.

Hello everyone

Are these 2 groups still active? Does anyone in the Hampton Roads Patriots and Peninsula TEA Party get involved in local politics anymore? I only see emails but no calls for action. I've invited members to help with sign waves, door knocking, phone calling, etc but no one ever responds, so I'm under the impression these groups are only active via the exchange of emails and such.

If anyone does want to do something besides email and post, let me know.

If ever there was a time for people to group together and grow their numbers, it is now.

Everyone is scattered, and when the boom comes down, we'll be out of touch.

It's coming. The gun grab is next. Obama has been testing the degree of resistance he might encounter for his gun grab by first pushing us via the TSA, NSA, the shutdown and treatment of Vets. We didn't riot or even push back to any significant degree. He thinks we are all bark and no bite and is pretty much resigned to believe we will act thusly when DHS comes knocking, that we will just willingly hand over our guns.

He is scrubbing our military clean of Constitutionally grounded generals and top commanders and militarizing our police forces. We all know this.

The fact that there are no groups meeting on this side of the water anymore is very troubling. I see other groups on twitter across the country who are cohesive and continue to grow. I would hope that those of us still getting emails would be involved in this election. I know some of you are and are working hard for Cuccinelli, Jackson, and Obenshain as well as for our General Assembly candidates.

I want to do a sign wave sometime this weekend but unless we have at least a dozen of us, it won't look very good. Reply back if you are interested. Someone needs to show this area we all aren't apathetic and detached from the real world, that some of us here DO care who gets into office.

Thanks.

God bless~

Shirley

Colonial Williamsburg at VCSSC in Roanoke!

Colonial Williamsburg for Teachers

November 1-2, 2013
Hotel Roanoke and Convention Center   Roanoke, VA

Stop by our booth and see all of our new, engaging products, including our 2013-2014 Electronic Field Trip Series! Be sure to attend our breakout sessions. Sessions and times are listed below.

Breakout Session #1

Who Freed the Slaves?
Presented by Bill Fetsko and Bill Sullivan
Friday, November 1, 2013
9:00-9:50 AM Roanoke Ballroom E

During the Civil War, Fort Monroe in Hampton remained in Union hands and became a destination for thousands of enslaved African Americans to claim their freedom. This, and other acts of self- emancipation, has brought in to question the common statement that "Lincoln freed the slaves." Utilizing primary sources, we will strive to determine who was truly responsible for the emancipation of the slave population during this period of time and President Lincoln's role in the process.

Breakout Session #2

Using Active Storytelling to Foster Divergent Thinking
Presented by Erin Sloan
Friday, November 1, 2013
10:00-10:50 AM Buck Mountain Room

Come and explore various group storytelling methods and then participate in a group storytelling session. We will use pre-selected "character" and "scenario" cards based on eighteenth century historical themes, and then participants will have the opportunity to create their own cards for classroom use. We will also explore various technology assets, such as downloadable apps, that will allow participants to use multimedia elements to enhance their narratives.

Breakout Session #3

How Did We Get Into This Mess Anyway?
Presented by Dale Van Eck
Friday, November 1, 2013
2:00-2:50 PM Harrison Tyler Room

The months of late 1776 were "the times that try men's souls." But just how did British citizens in America come to this point? What events led them to declare independence from the most powerful nation on earth? Discover how to use primary sources integrated with technology to put colonial grievances into perspective for students. Meet Edward Rutledge, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams as they attend a conference with British admiral Lord Howe, hoping to end the American rebellion peacefully. Discover the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the risks in pledging their lives, fortunes and sacred honor.

Breakout Session #4

Virtual Republic:
Civil Discussion for American Youth
Presented by Colleen Ziemba
Friday, November 1, 2013
3:00-3:50 PM Wilson Room

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's Virtual Republic, ideaofamerica.org, a free online resource, provides an online debate forum to secondary students where they can learn about, suggest, and discuss policy issues about current events. The Virtual Republic combines education and technology with an element of social media, allowing students to connect and discuss civics with national peers. Participants are encouraged to BYOD as we explore the assets of the Virtual Republic.
