            The York County Public Library offers a wide variety of programs, activities and fun for all ages during March. All programs are free and open to the public.
Enjoy a concert given by the United States Air Force Langley Winds of the USAF Heritage of America Band at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, in the Tabb Library meeting room. Featuring the diverse talents of six professional Airman-musicians, Langley Winds presents polished and passionate performances of the woodwind ensemble literature as well as transcriptions and patriotic favorites. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Library's free technology programs for adults continue with iPad Mail App classes on March 14 and 28. Learn how to use the mail app included with your iPad to send messages from your existing e-mail accounts. Both classes begin at 4 p.m. and last approximately one hour. Bring your own iPad, if possible. Register on-line through the "Event Calendar" link on the library's website, www.yorkcounty.gov/library.
The Peninsula Youth Orchestra presents its annual Lollipop Concert on Monday, March 18, at 6 p.m. in the Tabb Library meeting room. The orchestra consists of dedicated young musicians from middle and high school, college and young adults. Michael Sundblad conducts this talented group. The performance is free and open to the public.
Teens, ages 13 to 18, are invited to the Teen Book Club meeting on Thursday, March 21. Read and bring your favorite book with metamorphosis as the theme. For example, a book that contains change or deceit, a classic that is modernized, or a character that appears to be one person in the beginning but actually a different person in the end. Teen Book Club meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Tabb Library Youth Services Activity Room.
The Teen Advisory Board is sponsoring a Study Guide Book Swap and Sale on Saturday, March 23, in the Tabb Library Youth Services Activity Room. From noon to 12:30 p.m., meet and swap your AP, SAT, ACT, etc., guides with others. From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., shop for the guides you need. If you have study guides for sale, drop them off on March 20 from 1-9 p.m., March 21 from 5-9 p.m., March 22 from 2-6 p.m. or March 23 prior to the sale. You will be asked to provide information relevant to the sale of your item. For more information, contact the Youth Services Department at 890-5110.
Children, ages 6 to 12, are invited to read to a certified pet therapy dog during our monthly Paws to Read program on Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. in the Tabb Library meeting room. Reading to dogs is fun, and these dogs are great listeners. A signed parental permission slip is required.
Join us at the Yorktown Library on Saturday, March 23, at 1 p.m. for "Bats of the World." This informative and entertaining program features a variety of live bats including program favorite, the tropical fruit bat. Presented by Bat World Hampton Roads, the program strives to educate the public about these fascinating mammals, inform people about the benefits of bats and explain how and why bat houses work. Library Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A

Join us at the Chick-fil-A on Victory Blvd. in Yorktown on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. for Spirit Night to benefit the York County Public Library Foundation. Chick-fil-A will donate a percentage of the sales the Library Foundation brings in to their Victory Blvd. location during Spirit Night. Pick up a Spirit Night flyer at the Tabb or Yorktown Library, print a flyer at the library's website, www.yorkcounty.gov/library, or tell the cashier you're at Chick-fil-A to support the Library. "Eat mor chikin" and help us raise some moo-lah! See you there!
