Nerd Out With Yelp!

The Weekly Yelp: Hampton Roads

Nerd Out With Yelp!

This Weekly Yelp brought to you by April 3, 2013

Where to begin?

Prefer pi over pie? More of a mathlete than an athlete? Then pull out your pen from your pocket protector and get ready to take notes. In this Weekly Yelp, we're climbing out of that locker, loosening that atomic wedgie, and highlighting some hot spots where it's hip to be square!

Local Heroes (Norfolk)
Ghent's only comic book and graphic novel store is where Steph W gets her fix of independent comics. Check them out for new releases every Wednesday, and she'll be there. "You best believe I'm there searching for my comic!"

Cool Stuff (Virginia Beach)
Where Alison M goes to buy and sell DVDs and video games. "I traded my old PlayStation 2 along with several games and controllers and walked out with $150 in cold, hard cash. Not too shabby!"

American Oldies Records (Newport News)
Don't be overwhelmed by the thousands of uncategorized and unpriced records in crates along the floor. For Alondo M that's "where the coolest finds are." A great place to make you feel old and young at the same time!

Naro Expanded Video (Norfolk)
"The video joint of my dreams," declares Yajaida P. "They have the greatest selection that I have ever seen. If you buy the prepaid card, the rentals are $2 for a four-day rental," and on weekdays rent two and get one free.

AFK Books (Virginia Beach)
Pair a paperback with comfortable seating and complimentary tea. With over 30,000 pre-enjoyed books, records and CDs priced below $9.99 it's no surprise why Jim B "can't wait" to get back there. "I found my favorite, Ernest Hemingway, great blues CDs and lots more."
