RE: C3VS Annual Cruise with a Jamestown Gathering of V-Dub Clubs, 14 Apr 12

To All

Saturday should be a great day and a great turn out for V-Dubs!

For PVWC, I’ve received notice of at least 14-16 V-Dubs showing with nearly 20 people for the luncheon.

We have one family joining us from Northern Shore!

The C3Vs club will bring down people from 2 additional clubs and plan to meet us in Jamestown near noon.  (So, we will have time to talk and mess with cars before they get there.)

With extra time to spare, we will leave Patriot Square between 10:30 and 10:45.  This will help for the late arrivers.

The Dbl is running good and I will have a few things to help for those we are in need.

Below are notes from Jim (C3V club) so for you low riders…please read the bottom line for the ferry!

See yall there.

Rufus

Subject: This Saturday's Jamestown Cruise

Hey guys,

If you haven't been to our web site recently www.c3vs.com, you may want to check it out. There is a lot of good information there including the information below from the home page posted by our good friend Brian Crawford.

Spring Cruise to Jamestown/Surry and back! Meet at McDonald's on 13131 Kingston Avenue, Chester, VA 23836 by 10am. If you plan on grabbing a bite, get there earlier so you are ready to go by 10:00. Once we are all ready to go we will proceed East on Route 10 through Hopewell. Make a left onto Route 156 crossing over the James River until we arrive at Route 5. Turn right (east) on Route 5 until we come to Greensprings Rd (Route 614) and turn right there. Of course, while we are on Route 5 we can stop at any of the plantations to sight see and takes some pictures of our rides.

Once we are on Route 614 take that until it dead-ends at Jamestown Rd (Rt 31) and turn right towards the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry. Then take the ferry across the James. Once in Surry we can grab lunch at the Surry House Restaurant & Country Inn. Afterwards we cross back over the James on the ferry and pull off for some pictures in Old Jamestown. Last year some members of the Peninsula VW Club in Hampton Roads took us on a short drive to some very cool spots to take some neat pictures.

If you have questions or run into problems, feel free to give Bill (804 239-3435) or me (804 972-3040) a call on our cell phones. The weather looks like it is going to be a great day from start to finish. If you don't have you VW ready, come to McDonald's anyway and you should be able to find a ride. I know I'll have room in my vert. Don't forget to bring a camera as there are a ton of great photo opportunities!

Here is a website for the restaurant in Surry:

...and for the ferry in Jamestown:

Attention Low Riders: If you can stick your fist under your car, you are high enough off the ground to drive on and off the ferry!!!

I hope to see as many of you there as possible,

Jim

To All,

Attached is note from Jack relating to construction on Hwy 17 on the day of our event.

Please make note of it.

Also, I’ve spoken to the C3VS club and they are scheduled leave Chester, Va around 10 am and meet us in the Jamestown parking lot between 11 and 12.  They added the extra time for anyone having problems along the way.  (Last year, they arrived at about 11:15.)

As noted below, we will take the ferry across the river and have lunch in Surry as before.  Thus, I need a head count of the number of you who plan to attend.  I will add this estimate to the count from C3VS and pass it to the restaurant.

So, if you are coming, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Rufus

Again…pass this on if I missed someone.

Good Day Fellow V-Dub Friends,

This is a quick note to inform you all to join the PVWC as we meet up with the Central Virginia Vintage Volkswagen club (C3VS) during their Annual Cruise to Jamestown on 14 Apr 12.  The links with details of their event are attached.

The PVWC members plan to meet at the shopping center at the corner of Route 17 and Fort Eustis Blvd (Patriot Square) at 10 o'clock on 14 April.  From there, around 10:30, we will cruise up the Colonial Parkway to meet the C3VS club in Jamestown.  After a small gathering, we will take the Jamestown-Scotland ferry across the James River to have lunch and hang out on the Surry side.

If members of additional clubs plan to join us, please pass me an estimated head count of vehicles and people by Thursday, 6pm.  We are coordinating with the C3VS club for any additional arrangements if needed.

If you have questions....please don't hesitate to contact me.

I would like apologize for this being a last minute event.  But for those looking for something to do, on a expected beautiful weekend, and not go too far...this will be a great gathering!

For those I missed, please pass it on!  And pass me their email address.

If you received this message several times, verify the source.  It should be from me or PVWC.  I’m working on updating my contact list and narrowing it down.

If you missed last year…you missed a great event!

Hope to see you there!!!
